Disable two-factor authentication

Disable two-factor authentication

Alert
For release 25th August 2026

You can remove two-factor authentication from your account at any time. This means you'll only need your password to log in.

Why you might disable 2FA

You might want to disable 2FA if:
  1. You've lost access to your authenticator app
  2. You're switching to a different phone or device
  3. You no longer want to use two-factor authentication
  4. You're troubleshooting a login issue

How to disable two-factor authentication

Step 1: Open your profile settings
  1. Log in to Tourwriter using your email, password, and one-time code.
  2. Select Profile  in the left hand navigation
  3. On the My profile page, scroll down to the Two factor authentication area.
  4. You'll see a message stating that you have 2FA enabled.
  5. Click Disable two-factor authentication button.
Step 2: Confirm with your one-time code
  1. A confirmation dialog will appear warning you about removing 2FA.
  2. Open your authenticator app.
  3. Copy the six-digit code for Tourwriter.
  4. Paste or copy the code into the dialog.
  5. Click Disable.
  6. You'll see a success message. Two-factor authentication is now disabled.
What if I enter the wrong code?
If the code you entered is incorrect, you'll see an error message. Wait a few seconds for a new code to generate in your authenticator app, then try again.

How an Org admin can disable two-factor authentication

Any user assigned Admin user permissions can disable two-factor for a user. This could be useful if a known user is unable to login due to lost OTP access or forgotten password.
  1. A user with Admin permissions enabled should log in to Tourwriter.
  2. Click the Organisation option in the left hand navigation to open the Team page.
  3. On the team page, scroll to the user you want to disable.
  4. Click the ... More option for the user.
  5. Select Disable 2FA.

What happens after I disable 2FA?

Once 2FA is disabled:
  1. You can log in using only your email address and password
  2. You will no longer be prompted for a one-time code at login
  3. You can remove Tourwriter from your authenticator app (optional)
