Managing different languages in Tourwriter

Managing different languages in Tourwriter

Maintain and display itinerary content in multiple languages, catering to diverse markets.

Key Benefits:

  1. Efficiency - Quickly translate itinerary descriptions and app labels without manual effort.
  2. Global Reach - Cater to international markets by presenting itineraries in their preferred languages.
  3. Flexibility - Easily switch between languages as needed, at various levels including the organization default, itinerary level, and individual user preferences
  4. Consistency - Ensure all descriptions and headers are in the correct language.

The language settings can be applied to both the itinerary descriptions and the itinerary display labels/headers:
  1. Description language - Save descriptions in different languages for use in itineraries for different language markets.
  2. Itinerary display language - Alternate between languages for  itinerary publishing for travellers.

Description language

Customers can store multiple descriptions in different languages, one of which is your organisation Default. You can decide to override the default language so that itineraries display in the language of your choice.

The Tourwriter app is configured with the below language description options:
  1. Default
  2. Danish
  3. Dutch
  4. English
  5. French
  6. German
  7. Spanish
  8. Swedish

Default language

For customers who only require a single description language, the first description saved for a Supplier or Product is saved as the Default. There is no requirement to label your default language and for most customers English will be their default language.

Set a default Description language

The default description language is labeled as Default. To change your default to another language:
  1. Click the Organisation button
  2. Click the Customise tab
  3. In the Description language dropdown select your preferred default language.
Note: All new itineraries will be assigned the selected default language. Any existing itineraries will not change.

How to Add another description language

The process of adding different language descriptions is the same for Supplier, Products and Resources.
  1. Navigate to the tab with a Description panel (for a Supplier, Product and Resource)
  2. Click the Add another description button
  3. Select the language option you wish to add
  4. A new panel for the selected language will appear under the default language panel
  5. Add your description in the language to match the description label
Note: You can delete a description by clicking the Delete icon and Confirm. You cannot delete the Default description.

Override the Itinerary description language

If you wish to bulk override all the descriptions to a different language this can be done via either the Setup or Preview tabs. Both tabs include the Description language dropdowns. Selecting a different language will open a warning dialogue asking the user to confirm the change. Clicking confirm will delete the current description and replace them with the language descriptions saved for the Supplier.
Note: If the Supplier/Product doesnt have a description saved for a particular language then the Default language description will display.

Itinerary display language

Customers who are using a Description language
other than English can override the default publishing label language with an alternative to match the description.

The Tourwriter app is translated for these languages:
  1. Danish
  2. Dutch
  3. English (default app language)
  4. French
  5. German
  6. Spanish
  7. Swedish
Note: English is the assigned default language.

Set a new default Itinerary display language

  1. Click the Organisation button
  2. Click the Customise tab
  3. In the Itinerary display language dropdown select your language preference.
Note: All new itineraries will be assigned the selected default language. Any existing itineraries will not change.

Override Itinerary display language

If you wish to override your default Itinerary display language you can do this via either the Itinerary Setup or Preview tabs. Both tabs include the Itinerary display language dropdowns and selecting a different language from the dropdown will automatically update the below publishing labels/heading with your selection.

Using inbuilt browser translations

Many internet browsers have built in language translation tools that can be used instead of managing your own multi language descriptions.
