This commission type lets you pay an agency their commission while your standard gross margin stays intact. The agent price is calculated above the gross, so neither your margin nor the agent's standard markup is reduced.

How it works

When you select Calculate commission on top of gross on an agency record, Tourwriter pulls the agent commission percentage from the agency's commission setup and applies it to the gross price.

The agent price is calculated as:

Agent price = Gross ÷ (1 − Agent commission %)

Example: A service has a gross price of $180 and the agent commission is set to 9%.

$180 ÷ (1 − 0.09) = $180 ÷ 0.91 = $197.80

The agent sells at $197.80. The $17.80 difference is the agent's commission. Your $180 gross is preserved in full.

What appears in the itinerary

The agent commission percentage from the agency setup populates the agent commission column in the itemised pricing table automatically. You can override it on individual line items if needed.

The itinerary total displays the agent price. The agent total price column displays the gross price.

When to use this type

Use this option when you want to compensate an agency without touching your own margin. It is suited to situations where the agency acts as a reseller and you need to keep your gross pricing intact.
