Adding a Flight type product to an Itinerary

Adding a Flight type product to an Itinerary

InfoFlight products in Tourwriter have dedicated fields for air travel details that other product types do not. This article explains how each field works so you can add flight information accurately.

Flight-specific fields

When you add a product with the Flight product type to an itinerary, you will see four fields that are unique to flights: Airline, Flight number, Flight duration, and Departure and arrival airport.

Airline

Search for an airline using its two-letter IATA code or its full name. Only airlines recognised by the system will appear in the results. Select the correct airline from the dropdown to apply the right airline code to the booking.

Flight number

Enter the numeric portion of the flight number only. Once you have selected an airline, the airline code is automatically added in front of your number — so there is no need to enter the full code yourself.

NotesNote: If you are updating a flight record created before version 1.77.0, delete the existing flight number entry before using the updated lookup field.

Flight duration

Flight duration is calculated automatically from the departure and arrival dates and times you enter. If the flight crosses time zones and the auto-calculated duration is incorrect, you can enter the duration manually. Accepted formats include "1 hour" or "2 hours 17 mins."

If you change the departure or arrival times after entering a manual duration, click Refresh to recalculate.

Departure and arrival airport

Search for airports by name or code. The airport lookup is separate from the standard address lookup, so only airports known to the system will appear. Select from the results rather than typing a free-text entry.

NotesNote: If you are updating a record created before version 1.77.0, delete the existing airport entries before using the updated airport lookup fields.
